Amani Askari Toomer is a retired American professional football player known for his career as a wide receiver and punt returner for the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL). He played his entire professional career with the Giants and achieved notable accomplishments.

 

From 1999 to 2003, Toomer recorded over 1,000 receiving yards each season. He was part of the 2007 Giants team that won Super Bowl XLII. Toomer holds several records for the Giants, including 9,497 receiving yards, 668 receptions, and 54 receiving touchdowns. He also had success as a punt returner, with 109 punt returns for 1,060 yards and three touchdowns. During his rookie year in 1996, Toomer led the NFL in punt return average.

 

Prior to his professional career, Toomer played college football at the University of Michigan from 1992 to 1995. He had an exceptional college career, setting the school's single-season record with 1,096 receiving yards in 1994 and earning recognition as a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award and a first-team All-Big Ten honoree. Toomer finished his college career ranked second (now fourth) in Michigan history with 2,657 receiving yards.
