Elijah Mitchell is an NFL running back currently playing for the San Francisco 49ers. An Erath, LA native, Mitchell attended Erath High School and was a standout player, rushing for 4,045 yards and scoring 50 touchdowns in his three years as a starter. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he made Second Team All-Sun Belt in 2018 and 2019, his sophomore and junior seasons respectively, after missing out the majority of his freshman year due to injury. In his senior year, Mitchell won First Team All-Sun Belt honors after rushing for 878 yards and scoring 8 touchdowns. Due to his stellar play for the Cajuns, he made it to the 2021 NFL Draft, getting selected by the 49ers in the sixth round. Mitchell made an impact early, as he was thrust into the Niners' starting RB role, and he did not disappoint, breaking the 49ers' single-season rookie rushing record, rushing for 878 yards (the exact same amount as his senior year). He helped the Niners make the playoffs regardless of injuries plaguing the team, helping them reach the 2022 NFC Championship.
