He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft after playing college football at Virginia Tech, where he was the starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013. He played quarterback his first two seasons in the NFL before switching to tight end with the Buffalo Bills in 2016.
