Amobi Okugo is a professional soccer player, entrepreneur, media host, and philanthropist who has been recognized as a Forbes 30 under 30 recipient.

Amobi Okugo was drafted in the first round of the 2010 MLS super draft and has since played over 200 competitive games across MLS and USL for teams including Philadelphia, Orlando, Kansas City, Portland, and Austin

He is also the founder of A Frugal Athlete, an online financial media platform that promotes prudent financial practices and smart career decisions amongst professional athletes and student athletes. A Frugal Athlete essentially helps athletes make, manage, and multiply their money through financial education and athlete empowerment. 

Amobi Okugo founded The Ok U Go Foundation to help provide resources and opportunities to children from low income backgrounds through athletic, educational, and social programs. 

Outside of Okugo’s business ventures, he enjoys hiking, flying his drone, hosting trivia nights, reading, watching the latest tv show, and hanging out with family and friends.

  • Who do you look up to as a mentor and why? Junior Bridges, he was an athlete who used his leverage to become a very exceptional entrepreneur. Andrew Hawkins, he is a great example of an athlete entrepreneur + creator who has leveraged
  • Is there anything else we should know about you? I'm always looking to connect and expand my knowledge by experiencing other people. The beautiful thing about soccer is that you are exposed to so many different cultures and backgrounds
