Anthony Lanier is a defensive end in the Canadian Football League, currently playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In college, Lanier attended Alabama A&M University, playing for the bulldogs as a defensive end, while also playing for A&M’s basketball team. 

 

At A&M, Lanier excelled in football. His junior year, Lanier accounted for 54 tackles (second on the team), 18 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a blocked kick. His senior year, Lanier accounted for 29 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, a forced fumble and a pass breakup over just eight games. These impressive stats earned him a signing by the Washington Football Team in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. 

 

In Washington, Lanier played in 15 games, with his first career sack coming against Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints. He signed with the Chargers in 2018, and then in 2020, he played for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints, before taking his talents to Canada and playing for the Roughriders.
