Antonio James is the defensive coordinator of the Morgan State University football team. The Ohio native was a defensive lineman at the University of Illinois from 2006-2009, where he made 46 appearances and was a member of the 2007 team that upset Ohio State and reached the Rose Bowl. Antonio coached the defensive line and outside linebackers at Urbana High School from 2011-13 then served as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan before arriving at Morgan State in 2016. Entering his sixth year at MSU, Antonio has worked with the defensive line, linebackers and special teams units. He ascended to co-defensive coordinator in 2018, then fully took over responsibilities for the 2019 season while remaining co-special teams coordinator, a role he’s had since 2017. Antonio has been involved in developing several conference standout players and has a bright coaching future.
