Bob Benson is a veteran American football coach who has served as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania since 2015, significantly improving the Quakers’ defense and winning at least one Ivy League title. Before Penn, he built a strong résumé as the head coach at Georgetown (1993‑2005), guiding the Hoyas to three MAAC championships and six consecutive winning seasons. Benson also held defensive coordination roles at Towson (2006‑2007), Colorado School of Mines (2008‑2013), and Albany (2014), consistently driving marked defensive improvements. A former wide receiver at Marietta College and graduate of Vermont (BA, ’86; MA from Albany, 87), his coaching career spans over three decades.
