Brent Urban is a defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys franchise in the NFL. Originating from Ontario, Canada, Urban was a premier ice hockey player at a young age before beginning football, playing with future NHL players and winning an Ontario bantam championship. He even competed internationally.

While at Lorne Park Secondary School, however, he picked up Canadian football, and as a junior, Urban accounted for 16 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and 8 pass breakups, earning him two All-Star selections. He later played at the University of Virginia on scholarship. Urban unfortunately tore his ACL after redshirting his freshman year, but would go on to play in every game for the Cavaliers in 2011, his sophomore year. Switching from defensive end to defensive tackle for his junior year, Urban started every game, racking up 20 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. He then continued at defensive tackle for his senior year.

In 2013, Urban was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round of the CFL Draft, and then later drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Struggling through injuries during his first few seasons, Urban was fully healthy in 2018 and started in all 16 games for the club. He accounted for 27 combined tackles, 0.5 sacks, and two passes defensed.

Urban then signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2019, and then later that year with the Chicago Bears. After appearing in 16 games during the 2020 season and totalling 36 tackles, he was signed to the Dallas Cowboys where he currently plays.
