Speaking Topics

Strength In Neurodiversity

My flagship training on neurodiversity is called “Strength in Neurodiversity: How to create a workplace where everyone can belong.” Strength in Neurodiversity works great as an in-person training or a virtual webinar. I’ve delivered it for audiences ranging from Fortune 500 companies to scrappy nonprofits, and I can customize it to the needs of your event. For instance, we can add group discussion or reflection opportunities, or address neurodiversity outside the workplace, too.

Your audience will learn:

  1. The core principles of neurodiversity and how neurodiversity helps us better understand differences, such as autism and ADHD
  2. The competitive advantage provided by genuine inclusion and support for neurodivergence
  3. How to understand neurodivergent differences, rather than viewing them as deficits or “problems to be fixed”
  4. The implications of the social model of disability, and how the environment creates ability.
  5. Common workplace challenges experienced by neurodivergent people and how to overcome them (including examples from my lived experience as someone with autism).
  6. Practical applications for workflow and processes, office environments, hiring & promotions, conflict management, and more
  7. Specific applications to your industry and workforce

Oh, and your team will have fun too! I hate bland corporate trainings just as much as you do, and I would never inflict one on my audience.

What Being Autistic Taught Me About Being Human

Experience a live performance of Daniel’s TEDx talk that has received standing ovations from audiences across the country. What if the struggle for belonging is not a sign that we’re bad, or broken – but simply a part of the human experience? What if that person sitting alone had the potential to be a great friend to you? And what if the simple decision to reach out in friendship had the potential to change – or maybe even save – someone’s life?

In this talk, Daniel highlights the power of friendship and acceptance to transform a life. Through his own personal story, he gives hope to anyone struggling with belonging. And through his call to action, he inspires audiences to make a real commitment to a life of friendship. This story is a great fit for keynotes, fundraisers, and inspirational events, and the call to action can be adjusted to include a specific goal for your event.

How To Lead Without A Title

A full-day experiential workshop for a small group, which draws on principles of organizational psychology to challenge assumptions about leadership and unlock leadership potential. Participants learn key insights from psychological science on leadership and group dynamics, and engage in experiences that yield new perspectives into themselves and fresh opportunities to step up as leaders. This workshop also features guided discussions and reflection opportunities. This talk can be adapted to a one-hour didactic training or a shorter workshop. It can also be blended with the neurodiversity training to specifically empower neurodivergent leaders to thrive, or to equip executives to better lead neurodiverse teams.

Outside The Comfort Zone: How To Create A Culture That Embraces Change

“Outside Your Comfort Zone” gives your audience the courage to grow. It’s a bombastic one-hour experience that includes personal growth, practical strategies, and (of course) a dance montage. It equips your audience to adapt to change and move outside the comfort zone – without burning out. It's a great fit for any organization confronting a big change, or any event that wants to inspire its audience to be open to growth. It's also a lot of fun (did I mention the dance montage?)

It covers:

  • The importance of the comfort zone and how healthy growth requires a balance of effort and rest
  • The barriers to growth and why people struggle to change or escape the comfort zone
  • How burnout and overwhelm are created, and what to do about them
  • The best practical strategies for moving outside the comfort zone and finding sustainable growth
  • Specific applications to your audience and event

Universal Design For Inclusion: Building A Community Where Everyone Belongs

We are living through the midst of a loneliness epidemic. Research from Cigna found that over half of US adults are experiencing loneliness, and this loneliness creates significant harm – from increased risk of physical or mental health problems, to lower productivity at work. Whether you’re a leader of an organization wanting your team to thrive, or an individual hoping to flourish in your personal life, loneliness represents a major threat. But we don’t have to accept a life of loneliness.

We can design our communities to foster inclusion and belonging, and build opportunities for connection in our personal lives. That’s what this talk is all about. Daniel shares insights from psychological research to help your audience understand the factors that contribute to loneliness and develop the strategies that can create lasting freedom from loneliness. You’ll learn practical tools for forming relationships, creating inclusive community spaces, and leaving loneliness behind for good. This talk can be tailored for a professional audience, such as educators or HR executives, or tailored for individuals who are looking for self-improvement.
