D.J. Reed is an American football free safety for the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. Before finding his place at Kansas State University, DJ attended Fresno State, then transferred to Cerritos College, a junior community college. After his 2016 season with Kansas State University, he was named to the 2016 All-Big 12 Conference football team, and prior to the 2017 season, Reed was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list, the Jim Thorpe Award watch list and the Bronko Nagurski Award watch list.
Reed was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. In only his second season, he reached Super Bowl LIV with the 49ers.
