Eric Morris is the head coach of the University of North Texas football team. He was previously the head coach at the University of the Incarnate Word and the offensive coordinator at Washington State University. The Shallowater, Texas native was a wide receiver and punt returner at Texas Tech University from 2004-2008, and spent one season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League. Morris’ coaching career includes stops at the University of Houston and Texas Tech.

From 2013-2017 Morris was the offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Texas Tech, on Kliff Kingsbury’s staff, during which he recruited and coached the prolific Patrick Mahomes. At the end of 2017, Morris was announced as the new head coach of UIW and the third in the school’s history. Morris quickly turned the program around in 2018, guiding a team that finished 1-10 in 2017 to a 6-4 record in his first season and was named Southland Conference Coach of the Year and AFCA Regional Coach of the Year. In 2021 he led his team to a 10-3 record and won the conference. He looks to lead a promising North Texas team to a winning season in 2023.

Eric Morris uses his platform as a college coach to speak about the importance of hard work and overcoming adversity. His work ethic both in his playing career and coaching career set him apart from the rest as an inspiration and model for younger people who are passionate about working in sports.
