Jay Onrait is a Canadian television personality, author, and sports anchor. Born in Calgary and raised in Athabasca, Alberta, he began his broadcasting career at TSN in 1996 as an editorial assistant while attending Ryerson Polytechnic University. He later became sports director at CFSK-TV in Saskatoon and hosted The Big Breakfast on the A-Channel in Winnipeg. In 2001, he joined NHL Network as host of NHL on the Fly and Molson That's Hockey 2. Onrait returned to TSN in 2002 and, in 2003, began co-hosting SportsCentre alongside Dan O'Toole. Their late-night edition of SportsCentre became known for its irreverent and comedic style.
In 2013, Onrait and O'Toole moved to the U.S. to host Fox Sports Live on the newly launched Fox Sports 1. After the show's cancellation in 2017, they returned to TSN to host SC with Jay and Dan. Following O'Toole's departure in 2021, Onrait continued as the solo host of SC with Jay Onrait. Beyond television, Onrait co-created the popular Jay and Dan Podcast and authored two bestselling memoirs, Anchorboy and Number Two. His unique blend of sports knowledge and humor has made him a beloved figure in Canadian sports broadcasting
