Jeff Montgomery is a former MLB relief pitcher. The Wellston, Ohio native played college baseball at Marshall University and was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 9th round of the 1983 MLB Draft. He was quickly traded to the Kansas City Royals, where he would spend the rest of his 13 year big league career. Montgomery was one of the few relievers/closers to throw 4 different types of pitches, he recorded 304 saves in his career and was a 3x All-Star. In 1993, he won the AL Rolaids Relief Man Award and was the AL saves leader that same season. At the conclusion of his time with the Royals, Montgomery was nominated to the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame.
