Senior MLB Insider Jeff Passan joined ESPN in January of 2019, immediately making an impact through his position as a leading reporter in the industry. He appears regularly on ESPN studio shows, including SportsCenter, Get Up and Baseball Tonight, writes for ESPN.com and is a frequent guest on such ESPN podcasts as ESPN Daily and Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney. He also contributes as an on-field reporter for Monday Night Baseball and Wednesday Night Baseball. His favorite event he has covered so far for ESPN is the 2019 Baseball Winter Meetings. Prior to ESPN, Passan spent 13 years at Yahoo Sports. He is the author of New York Times bestseller The Arm: Inside the Billion-Dollar Mystery of the Most Valuable Commodity in Sports, and co-authored Death to the BCS: The Definitive Case Against the Bowl Championship Series. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Passan’s love for baseball began in his hometown. “Getting to watch the 1990s Indians, with Albert Belle and Kenny Lofton and Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez and Omar Vizquel and Carlos Baerga and Eddie Murray, made a baseball fan of me forever,” he said. Passan is a graduate of Syracuse University. As someone with a passion for both sports and writing, he said, “the ability to marry the two seemed too convenient to work a real job.”
