Joe Musgrove is an MLB starting pitcher for the San Diego Padres. After being selected by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft, Musgrove chose to forego his previous commitment to play college baseball for San Diego State, instead signing with the team. Musgrove was traded to the Astros in 2012 and made his MLB debut for the Astros in August 2016.
Musgrove was a part of the 2017 Astros World Series winning team, and that offseason, Musgrove was part of another massive trade between the Astros and the Pirates. He spent two years in Pittsburgh before being traded to the Padres. On April 9, 2021, Musgrove pitched the first no-hitter in the Padres' 52-year franchise history.
