Originally from Accra, Ghana, Mensah began his professional career there, before moving to South Africa and then Italy, Spain, France, Russia and now the Columbus Crew. Captain of the Ghana national team, Mensah played in the 2010 and 2014 World Cup. Off the field, he started the Jonathan Mensah Foundation to help with under privileged kids and orphans.
