Born in Germany, Gressel came to the US to attend Providence College, where he was an NCAA All-American, and then a top 10 draft pick for Atlanta United. Gressel won the 2017 MLS Rookie of the Year, and then MLS Cup. He then moved to DC United. Off the field, Gressel hosts the Zee Soccer Podcast, he contributes to childhood cancer initiatives, and he is scratch golfer who's created and hosted charity golf tournaments in the past.
