Kevin is a soccer broadcaster, based in Atlanta, GA. As a Studio Host, Reporter and Play by Play commentator, Kevin is fortunate to travel the world covering the game he loves. You’ll currently find Kevin broadcasting for CNN International, as well as Atlanta United matches on FOX Sports South, and hosting eMLS and ELEAGUE. Here’s his story: Born in Dublin, Ireland, Kevin Egan started his career in the entertainment industry as a television runner for RTE, Ireland’s National Broadcaster, during the 2004 Olympics. This was an incredible and eye-opening experience for the then 19 year old, who found himself meeting and conversing with some of the brightest TV Sports professionals in Ireland. The tea and coffee was obviously of a high standard, as he quickly progressed through the ranks as a researcher, sub-editor and reporter, covering events such as the FIFA World Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League. Kevin's mother Kathy hails from Chicago, Illinois, and much of his youth was spent on Addison St. with his grandparents wearing Chicago Cubs jerseys! Due to those fond memories, coupled with a burning desire to gain TV experience elsewhere, Kevin packed up and moved to the Windy City, landing the day before Barack Obama was inaugurated back on January 19th, 2009. After a 6 month stint of banging on every door that led to a studio, Kevin broke in at the Big Ten Network as a Production Assistant, building graphics for live college football and basketball shows. He offered to produce and present a weekly online soccer show on his own time, and thankfully Kevin's boss gave the green light, as that was a huge break here in the United States. Shortly after, in 2012, the Chicago Fire Soccer Club hired Kevin as a television commentator and analyst. Those were phenomenal years for him, traveling North America covering Major League Soccer. In 2015, he moved to Miami, FL to take a full-time position with beIN SPORTS as a studio presenter and match commentator. Kevin hosted beIN SPORTS’ live coverage of El Clasico from both Madrid and Barcelona, as well as fronting beIN's exclusive coverage of the U.S. Men's National Team World Cup Qualifiers. When the USMNT lost in Trinidad in October 2017, and the team failed to make the World Cup, Kevin was the lead host in studio. To this day, he says it was his most difficult and challenging assignment, but one that he relished. While at beIN, Kevin was the nightly studio host for 'The XTRA', beIN Sports’ flagship daily show, and this gave Kevin a chance to showcase his personality, offering the viewer a fun take on world football, with highlights, analysis and debates alongside a rotating cast of guests. In Summer 2019, Kevin and his family made the switch from Miami to Atlanta. Kevin is now the proud Play By Play Commentator and Host for Atlanta United broadcasts on FOX Sports South. In addition to this, you’ll see Kevin hosting and analyzing Champions League games on CNN World Sport, as well as occasionally anchoring Turner Sports and B/R Football’s exclusive broadcasts of the Champions League to the United States. E-Sports is also an area where you’ll regularly see and hear Kevin, particularly with FIFA events. Kevin has hosted global FIFA tournaments from Turner Sports’ ELEAGUE studio, as well as eMLS events across the US.
