Nabilai “Nabi” Kibunguchy is a defender for Minnesota United in Major League Soccer. The Sacramento, California native developed in the academy of the USL side Sacramento Republic before attending UC Davis. After playing four seasons for the Aggies, Nabi entered the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and was selected 18th overall by Minnesota United. Nabi was loaned to Sacramento Republic for the 2021 season, and he has returned to Minnesota for the 2022 MLS season.
Nabi’s family is originally from Kenya. He has a B.A. in Managerial Economics, and he cares deeply about giving back to the community. Nabi aims to increase access to soccer training in underserved communities, and he is in the process of building his own brand called “Keep It Pushin” towards that end. In his free time, Nabi enjoys listening to podcasts - particularly about financial literacy and investing - as well as a diverse range of music. He also enjoys playing FIFA and hiking.
