Rhyne Howard is a guard for the Atlanta Dream. She was the first overall pick in the WNBA draft in 2022. During her time as a Kentucky Wildcat, she scored over 2,900 points and became one of nine players in women’s basketball history to be named to the Associated Press First Team three times. She won back-to-back SEC Player of the Year Awards in 2020 and 2019. In 2018 followed a season that ended with her being recognized as the National Freshman of the Year. A prolific scorer, the 6'2 guard was second-fastest in school history to reach 1,000 career points, doing so in only 53 games.

Howard came to Kentucky as a highly-touted recruit from Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. There, she was the 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year and Tennessee Miss Basketball, and her stellar play earned her an invitation to the Jordan Brand Classic. She chose Kentucky over South Carolina and Purdue.
