Travis Pastrana is one of the most versatile and accomplished action sports athletes in history, a pioneer who has pushed the limits of freestyle motocross, rally racing, and stunt performance across a career spanning multiple decades. Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Pastrana rose to fame through dominant performances at the X Games, where he became the youngest motocross champion at age 16 and won the inaugural Moto X Freestyle event in 1999 at just 15 years old.
Pastrana has since built one of the most decorated résumés in action sports, with 11 X Games gold medals, 4 silver, and 2 bronze. In 2006, he became just the third athlete ever to win three gold medals at a single X Games event, capturing titles in Moto X Best Trick, Moto X Freestyle, and Rally Car Racing. That same year, he became the youngest ever American rally champion, going on to win four consecutive Rally America titles.
Pastrana's versatility carried him well beyond motocross. He has raced in NASCAR, the Porsche Cup, and IndyCar, won the inaugural Nitro Rallycross Championship in 2021, and captured the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship in 2022, making him the only athlete to win at the professional level in four different sports. In 2023, he was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and hit a major NASCAR career milestone.
Beyond competition, Pastrana holds multiple Guinness World Records, including the longest rally car jump, fastest Mt. Washington Hillclimb, and most motorcycle backflips in 30 seconds. He was the first person to land a doubleback flip on a motorcycle in competition, successfully recreated three of Evel Knievel's most famous jumps in a single night, and completed a parachute-free skydive.
As the founder of Nitro Circus, Pastrana has built a global action sports brand, along with Channel199, which blends high-adrenaline stunts with entertainment and digital content. With a combined social following of 13.5 million, he remains one of the most recognized and influential figures in action sports.
