Dr. Aditi U. Joshi is a Telehealth expert, Digital health strategist, and an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician working on improving healthcare and equity through technology. After over a decade of working in Telemedicine and digital health, she has a keen interest in making technology palatable and effective for patients, providers, and healthcare systems. She speaks nationally and internationally on the topics of telehealth, the future of medicine, digital health research outcomes, physician burnout, and innovation in emergency medicine.

 

Dr. Joshi joined Doctor on Demand in 2013 as one of the first physicians and Assistant Medical Director. She was then recruited as Medical Director of telehealth at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a tertiary academic hospital with one of the earliest and largest telemedicine programs in the country honing her multi-faceted experience in virtual care operations, quality assurance, provider training, medical education, and implementing new programs and digital health use cases. 

 

Currently, she aids companies in their go-to-market strategy, does due diligence for investors, and evaluates research outcomes for digital health products. She is considered one of the leaders in telehealth and tel-emergency care, having led four programs and trained thousands of other clinicians. Her goal and contributions are leading to a future healthcare system that used technology efficiently and effectively. 

 

Nationally, she serves as the Chair of the Telehealth committee of the American College of Emergency Physicians, chairs the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine’s Telehealth Fellowship Committee, is part of the American Telemedicine Association's research review committee, and an Advisor for the AMA’s Digital Payment Advisory Group. Her book on Telehealth Success - how to build and understand the ecosystem will be published by Forbes in the Spring of 2023.

  • Are there any moments that stand out as having a significant impact on your career? I developed burnout symptoms in 2013 while in the ER which prompted my start in telehealth in 2013. After years of slow growth, the pandemic brought it, and my skills, to the forefront.
  • Outside of your profession do you have any hobbies/interests? I've practiced martial arts for over a decade, It is one of the best ways for me to relax. I also love to read, I read at least a book a week.
